Course Description

Course Overview

Certified Investment and Financial Analysts (CIFA) Part 3 Section V is a KASNEB professional course that is part of the Advanced Level of the CIFA course. It covers three papers. These three papers include:

Paper No. 12 Leadership and Management

Paper No. 13 Fixed Income Investments Analysis

Paper No. 14 Alternative Investments Analysis

Finstock Evarsity College offers a 6month online program examined by Finstock Evarsity College. A certificate is issued upon completion of the course. This program aims at preparing you for the CIFA exams prepared externally by KASNEB. After passing the KASNEB exams you will be able to get a CIFA certification.

This course imparts knowledge, skills, values and attitudes to, among other competencies such as:

• Apply financial tools and concepts in analysis and valuation of investment and securities
• Manage and grow portfolios of investments
• Analyse various types of investments including equity investments, fixed income investments and derivatives
• Manage corporate finances
• Apply financial modelling and analytical tools in investments analysis

What is the minimum required grade required to do CIFA Part 3 Section V?

For you to enroll for the course you should show evidence of being a holder of one of the following minimum qualifications:

• Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examination with an aggregate average of at least grade C+ (C plus) or its equivalent.
• Kenya Advanced Certificate of Education (KACE) with at least TWO Principal passes provided that the applicant has credits in Mathematics and English at Kenya Certificate of Education (KCE) level or equivalent qualifications.
• kasneb technician, diploma or professional examination certificate.
• A degree from a recognised university.
• International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) examination grade C in 6 papers with C in both English and Mathematics.
• Such other certificates or diplomas as may be approved by kasneb.

Mode of Delivery

Finstock Evarsity College offers you an online platform to ease your studies. A student is provided with Home and/or office-based media employing a variety of self-instructional electronic and online self-study materials, such as; written self-instructional study modules, self-tests, cloud-based content, videos of lectures mediated technical learning materials e.g., audiovisual and e-learning materials.  We also offer an optional online meeting via zoom and google meet when you need clarification as you study. If the student has questions, they may also contact their lecturer on the platform. Therefore, study time as well as duration is flexible and fits into the student’s convenience.

Things to note

Holders of specific degrees and diplomas that are recognized and listed on the KASNEB website (kasneb.or.ke) may be exempted from this section for example Diploma in business graduates are exempted from the foundation level papers. One should register and apply for these exemptions on the KASNEB website.

Candidates will not be allowed to skip any paper. You cannot do a higher paper if you have not completed a lower one or have not been exempted from a lower one. For example you cannot do paper 2 if you have not completed paper 1.

The examination is divided into 3 parts of two sections each. A candidate may attempt two sections in a part together or separately before proceeding to the next part. For example part 1 section I and II

A candidate must pass the lower part before ascending to the next part. Pass CIFA part 2 before proceeding to part 3
