Requirements | |
-For appointment to this position, an applicant must: - | |
- i.Hold a degree in Islamic Law or its equivalent from a recognized University | |
-Institution; | |
- ii.A qualification in Management from a recognized institution will be an added advantage. | |
- iii.Professes the Muslim religion and possesses knowledge of the Muslim law applicable to any sect of Muslims; | |
- iv.Demonstrated managerial and professional competence in work performance; | |
- v.Be of good conduct in accordance with the Islamic faith; and | |
- vi.Have high moral character, integrity and impartiality (meet the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution on Leadership and Integrity). | |
- Work Experience: | |
- Minimum of ten (10) years’ experience as a distinguished academic in Islamic law, or Islamic law practitioner or such experience in other related fields. | |

Duties and Responsibilities | |
-Duties and responsibilities at this level will involve: | |
- (i)Supervision of all the Kadhi’s Courts; | |
- (ii)Sitting as an assessor during appeals from Kadhis Courts; | |
- (iii)Arbitration of disputes on inheritance, marriages and divorce in Muslim families; | |
- (iv)Translating Arabic related documents; | |
- (v)Supervising, guiding and developing staff working under the Kadhi’s Courts; | |
- (vi)Submitting regular reports to the Chief Justice concerning the Kadhi’s Courts in general; | |
- (vii)Submission of regular reports to Attorney-General on registration of Muslim marriages and divorces; | |
- (viii)Attending to matters of the sighting of the moon; and | |
- (ix)Performing such other judicial functions as provided by law; | |

- Shortlisted candidates will be required to submit valid clearance certificates from the following bodies during the interview: - |
- •Kenya Revenue Authority |
- •Higher Education Loans Board |
- •Directorate of Criminal Investigation |
- •Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission |
- •A recognized Credit Reference Bureau; and |
- •Recommendation from relevant professional body, as the case may be, as being in Good Standing. |
