We are seeking a motivated and tech-savvy IT student to join our ICT department for an industrial attachment, gaining hands-on experience in a dynamic academic environment.
Attachment Purpose
This attachment is designed to bridge the gap between academic knowledge and real-world IT practice. The IT Attachment Trainee will assist the ICT team in maintaining, supporting, and improving the college's IT infrastructure, learning management system (LMS), and user support services.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide first-level technical support to staff, faculty, and students (hardware, software, network, and LMS access).
- Assist in the installation, configuration, and maintenance of computer systems, printers, and other peripherals.
- Support the administration of the college’s Learning Management System (e.g., Moodle, Canvas, or proprietary platform).
- Help monitor and maintain network connectivity, including Wi-Fi access points and basic troubleshooting of routers/switches.
- Participate in software and application testing, updates, and patch management.
- Document IT procedures, technical issues, and resolutions in the knowledge base.
- Assist in user account management (creation, modification, deactivation) on various platforms.
- Support cybersecurity awareness campaigns and basic security checks (antivirus updates, backup verification).
- Perform any other IT-related tasks assigned by the supervisor.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of the attachment, the trainee will have gained practical experience in:
- IT helpdesk operations and customer service.
- Network and system administration basics.
- LMS and e-learning platform management.
- IT documentation and asset tracking.
- Working in a professional, remote-friendly IT environment.
Eligibility & Requirements
- Currently pursuing a Diploma or Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (recent graduates may also be considered).
- Basic understanding of computer hardware, Windows/Linux OS, and common office software.
- Familiarity with networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, Wi-Fi).
- Good problem-solving and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and in a team.
- Own a reliable laptop (for remote/hybrid tasks) if required.
- Prior helpdesk experience (even at class project level) is an added advantage.
What We Offer
- Hands-on mentorship from experienced IT professionals.
- Exposure to a real-world e-learning environment.
- Monthly stipend (if applicable – specify amount or state “small stipend”).
- Certificate of completion upon successful attachment.
- Opportunity for future full-time employment based on performance.
