Detailed Description
• Maintaining a strong control environment, particularly by reviewing existing policies and procedures to improve financial controls and efficiency.
• Own the design, implementation, documentation, assessment, and monitoring of the Group’s internal control framework, including group policies and key risks in order to ensure that the group has adequate controls to prevent unintentional and intentional errors in financial reporting, processes, and business operations.
• Work collaboratively with business and process owners to implement and monitor remediation efforts that result from internal control assessments, ensuring the effective implementation of corrective action.
• Management of the Financial Controls Checklist process, including ensuring action plans are in place to improve any low scoring areas (especially for the defined critical controls).
• Acting as Security Champion (primary or backup), ensuring appropriate segregation of Ownership of the DOA (Delegation of Authority) and/ or maker checker – including assuring adherence to it.
• Support in process improvement projects as system enhancement, deployment of new software and tools, process optimization, etc.
• Defining streamline processes between teams and external providers for cost and time effective exchanges of information and receipt of deliverables.
• Actively engage with internal and external auditors to ensure consideration and resolution of all relevant risks and audit findings.
• Develop and conduct adequate training and prepare related information material on the internal control objectives, approach, and methodology to business partners on a regular basis to build knowledge and understanding of risks and control.
• Drive the internal controls benchmark with best in class and develop and implement road map to get to best in class.
• Drive ownership of all including key controllership metrics (account reconciliations, audit script closures, statutory financial statement filings and audit open items, etc.)
• Ensure the quality of account reconciliations and Balance Sheet analysis to maintain the integrity of the accounts.
• Drive overall ownership and accountability of Controllership initiatives across the company.
• Develop and implement a comprehensive risk program or framework by identifying, assessing, monitoring, and reporting all material compliance risks, in coordination with all functions within Finance and companywide.
• Monitor, track, and report on closure of corrective actions committed to by Management in relation to exceptions identified by regulators and auditors. This will include risk categories, rating, tolerance & measurement.
• Provide leadership on the compliance risk assessment processes in coordination with respective SBUs and ensuring that the compliance risks are appropriately identified and assessed.
• Provide advisory guidance on how to integrate risk management within the enterprise strategy development process.
• Prepare and provide standard and ad-hoc information and data reports on compliance and regulatory issues to regulators and other stakeholders as required.
Job Requirements
• Relevant University Degree from a reputable Institution.
• Full Accounting Qualification - CPA/ACCA/CIMA/ACA.
• Over 10 years of work experience from a similar position in a multinational group delivering similar services.
• Current understanding of International Financial Reporting Standards.
• Advanced excel and power point skills.
• Sound systems knowledge and experience working with ERP.
• Strong technical accounting background.
