Job Description
Quantum-Systems is seeking a visionary Software Architect to define, own, and evolve end-to-end software architectures spanning embedded systems, ground control software, and cloud platforms for our cutting-edge drone technology.
Key Responsibilities:

Define, own, and evolve comprehensive end-to-end software architectures covering embedded systems, ground control software, and cloud platforms

Collaborate closely with the Lead Software Architect on technical strategy and direction

Guide and mentor agile development teams on architectural best practices and technical decisions

Ensure consistency, scalability, security, and performance across all software layers
-
Evaluate emerging technologies, tools, and frameworks for potential adoption
-
Support integration efforts between airborne systems, ground stations, and cloud infrastructure
-
Create and maintain architectural documentation and technical specifications
-
Conduct code and design reviews to ensure architectural compliance
-
Drive technical innovation and continuous improvement initiatives
-
Collaborate with product management to translate business requirements into technical solutions
Qualifications & Requirements:
-
Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field
-
5+ years of professional software development experience
-
3+ years of experience as a Software Architect or in a similar technical leadership role
-
Strong experience with embedded systems, real-time software, or IoT platforms
-
Experience with cloud platforms and distributed systems (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
-
Proficiency in modern programming languages (C++, Python, Java, or similar)
-
Deep understanding of software design patterns, architectural styles, and system integration
-
Experience with agile development methodologies (Scrum, Kanban)
-
Excellent German and English communication skills (written and verbal)

Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in the aerospace, drone, or robotics industry
-
Knowledge of safety-critical systems and standards (DO-178C, ISO 26262)

Experience with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)

Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices

Contributions to open-source projects or technical publications
Additional Requirements:

Must have valid work authorization for Germany (EU citizenship or valid work visa)

Willingness to work in a hybrid model (office presence required in Bavaria)

German language proficiency (B2/C1 level) preferred for day-to-day collaboration
