Course overview

The  Basics in Uwezo Youth and Women Funding Course offered at Finstock Evarsity College is a 1 month online program examined by Finstock Evarsity College. A certificate of completion is issued upon completion of the course.

Uwezo Fund is a flagship programme for vision 2030 aimed at enabling women, youth and persons with disabilities access finances to promote businesses and enterprises at the constituency level, thereby enhancing economic growth towards the realization of the same and the Sustainable Development Goals No.1 (eradicate extreme poverty and hunger) and 3 (promote gender equality and empower women). The Fund is highly devolved and adopted the concept of bottom-up approach with desicion making done at the grassroot level

  • Access to 30 percent Public Procurement tender opportunities for Youth, Women and persons with disability.

The course is based on a participatory, active learning approach, with an emphasis on critical reflection and peer-to-peer learning. The course instructor will provide individualised feedback where appropriate. Participants will do the required readings, prepare interim and final assignments and participate in group discussions. 

COURSE OBJECTIVES

  • Identify and understand the critical terms and conditions of grant aid for donor-funded projects
  • Ensure compliance with donor terms and conditions
  • Understand the donor requirements in relation to supporting documents, correct procurement of goods and services and meeting financial reporting requirements
  • Understand proposal writing, project planning and problem analysis
  • Prepare a donor financial report to match with a project narrative report
  • To design and use various fundraising approaches and methods in fundraising, types of funds and funding frameworks.
  • Handle funds appropriately to avoid embezzlement

 

What is the minimum grade required to do a certificate in Uwezo Youth and Women Funding?

In order to enroll and study in certificate in Uwezo Youth and Women Funding, a student should have a minimum of C- in their KCSE exams OR a relevant degree, diploma or certificate
