Course Description

Basics in Telemedicine

Course overview

The basics in Telemedicine course offered at Finstock Evarsity College is a one month Online program examined by Finstock Evarsty College. A certificate of completion is issued upon successful completion of the course.

Telemedicine refers to the practice of caring for patients remotely when the provider and patient are not physically present with each other.

Today, most people have access to basic telemedicine devices like mobile phones and computers. With improved accessibility, individuals in rural areas and busy urban areas can connect with a provider with ease. Home-use medical devices make it possible for caregivers to monitor everything. Physicians can gather essential medical information and make a diagnosis without patients stepping foot in a doctors office. This is one of the fastest growing industries due to need for good health even for people who do not have physical hospitals near them. Telemedicine has a lot of advantages and has also helped in lower rates of spread of diseases. Because of telemedicine, patients who previously had limited access to health care services can now see a physician without leaving their home. Seniors who would prefer to age in place can now do so with the use of medical streaming devices. The spread of disease is reduced as individuals with contagious diseases don’t have to expose it to others in crowded waiting rooms.

  1. Improved Care

Calling a doctor from home gives telemedicine patients access to important documents and medications that they might forget to bring to the physician’s office. Your telemedicine provider can help provide you with a clear understanding of your insurance coverage should you need to visit a provider in-person. It’s also easier to take notes or include a family member on the call to help retain important information.

  1. Better Access to Care

Doctors can reach patients in remote, rural and underserved areas where there might not be an available doctor or hospital. During emergencies, a telemedicine doctor can instruct a remote patient on what to do to protect their health until they can get to a physical medical office.

  1. Specialist Availability

In rural and urban areas, certain specialists may not be easily accessible for in-office visits. Telemedicine enables patients to connect with specialists who may be hundreds of miles away.
