As the saying goes we are what we eat it is super important to watch what you are supplying your body with. Unhealthy eating habits can cause serious health problems, for example Psychiatric disorders such as depression and anxiety can be traced back to unhealthy eating habits. The brain being the control center of your body, it is in charge of keeping your heart beating and lungs breathing and allowing you to move, feel, and think. That is why it is a good idea to keep your brain in peak working condition. The foods you eat play a role in keeping your brain healthy and can improve specific mental tasks, such as memory and concentration. Here are some of the foods that are good for your brain.
Dark and leafy greens.
Kales and spinach are rich in variety of vitamins , minerals and plant nutrients called polyphenols which are antidepressants. In recent studies , people reported eating raw spinach and kales noted fewer depressive symptoms. These greens also offer a source of vitamin B which reduces homocysteine which is a neurotoxin.
At Finstock Evarsity college, we have a short course in spinach farming.
Fatty fish.
These include salmon, sardines, herring and tuna which are a rich source of omega 3 fatty acids which work in the brain to interact with mood related chemicals like dopamine and serotonin in addition these essential nutrients cannot be made in our bodies. The American Heart Association recommends eating 2-3 ounces servings a week.
Most depressed persons have a deficiency in zinc , magnesium and vitamin D which are all found in fatty fish. If you would like to rear fish to supplement your diet instead of spending time and money to buy from the stores where most of the fish are preserved on chemicals, we have a short course here at Finstock Evarsity college which will help you to correctly rear your own fish and have a healthy diet.
Berries.
