Classification of Computers According to their Sizes

Throughout history, man has tried to invent devices to assist him in calculating and processing data. The first generation of computing system were in use in the late 1940s which used vacuum tubes as the main component. At present, computer system is designed in a variety of sizes and prices. They range from small less costly computers such as microcomputers to minicomputers. In this blog I have classified computers in respect to their sizes as listed beneath, read on to acquire more details on the computers.

1.Main Frame Computer

A Main frame computer is a large, fast, general purpose, multi-capacity machine that is used to perform all organization’s processing. The computer is quite expensive therefore it is suitable for large organizations which includes universities, government agencies and large business firms. Installation of this computers to their respective positions require high tech skills from system analyst, programmers and computer operators who have been accredited in Computer Science course offered at Finstock Evarsity College.

2.Minicomputer

A Minicomputer is a small desktop digital device with a central processing unit, at least one input and output device with a minimum primary storage capacity of 4k bytes. Minicomputers are smaller and less costly than mainframe computers. Minicomputers are mainly used for smaller business and office applications and sometimes as part of a large computer system.

3.Microcomputer

A Microcomputer is a complete computer processor manufactured on a single integrated circuit chip.it has many features and capabilities of the larger system. Micro computers are smaller in size and less costly compared to minicomputers. Microcomputers are used for smaller businesses, monitoring and controlling various processes such as in manufacturing and at home for gaming and other recreational activities. In order to operate this computers, you require computer technology knowledge skills which you can acquire by enrolling for the Software Engineering course offered at Finstock Evarsity College and learn basics of computer that will help in your business and your day to day activities that will require the help of a computer.
