Job Description
This is a specialized recruitment and assessment pathway for highly experienced Kenyan Clinical Officers to join the NHS. You will initially work in a supervised role while undergoing a structured portfolio-based assessment to potentially gain registration as a Physician Associate or a recognized Senior Clinical Practitioner within the NHS. The role focuses on acute medical assessment and management.
Core Clinical Duties (Under Supervision):

Perform comprehensive history taking and physical examinations for patients presenting to Acute Medical Units (AMU), Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC), or general medical wards.

Develop differential diagnoses and initiate evidence-based management plans in consultation with the supervising consultant.

Order and interpret diagnostic investigations including bloods, imaging, and ECGs.

Perform specific clinical procedures as per competency framework (e.g., venepuncture, cannulation, arterial blood gas sampling, suturing).

Participate in daily ward rounds, present patients, and document clinical notes and progress on the electronic patient record (EPR) system.

Facilitate patient discharge planning, including writing discharge summaries and coordinating with community services.

Engage in multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings, contributing to patient care planning.
Pathway & Professional Development Requirements:

Essential Qualification: Bachelor’s Degree in Clinical Medicine (BSc. Clinical Medicine) AND a relevant Higher National Diploma (HND) (e.g., Anaesthesia, Internal Medicine, Paediatrics, Surgery).

Essential Registration: Valid license and Certificate of Good Standing from the Clinical Officers Council (COC) Kenya.

Essential Experience: Minimum 5 years of post-graduation clinical experience, with at least 3 years in your HND specialty within a large, busy public or private referral hospital.

Mandatory Language Test: IELTS (Overall score of 7.5 with at least 7.0 in each component) OR OET (Grade B in all sections). This is non-negotiable for visa and registration.

Assessment: Successful completion of a competency-based interview and a clinical scenario-based written assessment.

Annual Gross Salary: £43,742 - £50,056 per annum.

This equates to approximately KES 560,000 - KES 640,000 per month (before UK tax and deductions).
