MECHANICAL FITTER / INDUSTRIAL MECHANIC

We are seeking experienced and safety-focused Mechanical Fitters to join a leading mining services provider in Western Australia. You will be responsible for maintaining and repairing fixed and mobile plant equipment at a remote mine site, ensuring maximum operational availability and adhering to the highest safety standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance on heavy mining equipment including conveyor systems, crushers, screens, pumps, compressors, and hydraulic systems.

• Diagnose mechanical faults, conduct root cause analysis, and execute effective repairs to minimize downtime.

• Read and interpret engineering drawings, schematic diagrams, and equipment manuals to guide work.

• Carry out precision alignment of shafts, bearings, and couplings using laser alignment tools.

• Perform mechanical installations, component replacements, and fabrication tasks as required (welding certification is a plus).

• Strictly adhere to all site safety protocols, including Permit-to-Work (PTW), Lock-Out Tag-Out (LOTO), and isolation procedures.

• Accurately complete digital job cards, maintenance reports, and parts requisitions using the site's CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System).

• Work collaboratively in a team environment with other fitters, electricians, and supervisors.

Mandatory Requirements:

• A recognized mechanical fitting trade qualification (Kenyan Craft Certificate + successful skills assessment for Australia).

• Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in a heavy industrial environment.

• Proven competency in maintaining rotating equipment and precision fitting.

• Valid driver's license.

• Ability to pass a full pre-employment medical assessment, including drug and alcohol screening.

• Strong commitment to workplace health and safety.

Desirable Skills:

• Experience with specific mining equipment (e.g., Caterpillar, Komatsu, Sandvik).

• Certifications in Working at Heights, Confined Space Entry, and High-Risk Work Licenses (e.g., forklift).

• Basic machining skills (lathe, milling).
