Job Description
To provide high-quality, compassionate, and evidence-based midwifery care to women, newborns, and their families throughout the continuum of pregnancy, labour, birth, and the postnatal period. To work effectively as part of a multi-professional team within a busy NHS Trust.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Provide full-spectrum midwifery care: conduct antenatal check-ups, monitor labour, manage normal deliveries independently, and provide postnatal support.

Identify high-risk pregnancies and collaborate with obstetricians and senior midwives to manage complex cases.

Perform immediate newborn assessments, provide resuscitation when necessary, and support breastfeeding initiation.

Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential electronic patient records in line with NHS protocols.

Educate, advise, and support women and their families, promoting informed choices and health literacy.

Adhere strictly to clinical guidelines, infection prevention protocols, and health & safety standards.

Participate in clinical audits, reflective practice, and continuous professional development (CPD) activities.

Supervise and mentor student midwives and junior staff as required.

Work flexibly across a 24/7 rotational shift pattern, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Essential Requirements:

A recognized qualification in Midwifery (BScM or KRCHN Diploma).

Active registration with the Nursing Council of Kenya (NCK).

Eligibility for UK Nursing & Midwifery Council (NMC) registration (or in process).

IELTS (minimum 7.0 in each component) or OET (Grade B) certificate.

Minimum of 2 years recent clinical midwifery experience in a hospital setting.

Up-to-date clinical knowledge and a demonstrable commitment to professional development.

Excellent communication, empathy, and teamwork skills.
Desirable Skills:

Experience in different midwifery models of care.

UK NMC PIN already obtained.

Additional certifications (e.g., Advanced Life Support in Obstetrics).
