Job Description
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Chef Assistant to join our dynamic kitchen team. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing ingredients, assisting in food production, and maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness and food safety. This is an excellent opportunity to develop your culinary skills in a fast-paced, international environment.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Assist senior chefs in the daily preparation, cooking, and plating of dishes according to established recipes and standards.

Ensure all mise-en-place is completed efficiently and your assigned kitchen section is fully stocked and organized.

Maintain impeccable personal hygiene and adhere strictly to all HACCP and food safety protocols.

Clean and sanitize workstations, equipment, utensils, and kitchen surfaces before, during, and after service.

Receive, inspect, and store food deliveries correctly to ensure quality and prevent spoilage.

Follow all instructions from the Chef de Partie and Sous Chef to ensure smooth kitchen operations.

Handle kitchen equipment safely and responsibly, reporting any faults immediately.

Contribute to a positive, professional, and cooperative team environment.
Required Qualifications & Experience:

A Diploma or Certificate in Food Production, Culinary Arts, or related field from a recognized institution (e.g., Kenya Utalii College).

A valid Food Handler's Certificate.

Minimum of 2 years of continuous professional experience in a hotel, resort, or high-volume restaurant kitchen.

Trade Test Certificate from NITA or a relevant body is a strong advantage.

Physical stamina to work long hours in a hot environment, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Basic understanding of international culinary terms and kitchen operations.
